Our day in Rome was a very hectic and busy. We started off by meeting our driver who took us on an hour road trip into the heart of the city, where we picked up our guide.
The Vatican:
She first took us to the Vatican Museum, where we explored countless hallways and rooms filled with artifacts and priceless works of art.
St. Peter’s Basilica:
No photos could ever portray the size and magnificence of this cathedral.
Not visible in this photo, but there are people walking around a walkway the bottom edge of the upper dome. I did not even notice them until our guide pointed it out to us because they are so high and far away.
The second window from the very top right is the Pope’s study, where he delivers speeches.
The Coliseum:
The Forum:
We did not have time to explore the ruins of this once magnificent city center, but did manage to get some excellent views.
Trevi Fountain:
The Pantheon:
Again, this is one site that photos do not do justice. I was “wowed” by the immensity of St. Peters, but felt the Pantheon was equally impressive. Gotta hand it to the Romans, they were impressive builders.
Vittorio Monument:
This is an impressive monument honoring the man who is credited with unifying Italy. It was erected just northwest of the Roman Forum
Incredible! Props to the photographer. I've never seen a photo reel that captured the grandiose of Rome etc, quite like this one. Sounds like you guys had a great vacation. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing about it is that this doesn't even scratch the surface. I took over 400 pictures in the one day we were there, and felt that I could have take 1000 more and still wouldn't have captured enough.
