Our last stop before going back to Barcelona was Messina. We planned to make a simple excursion of it and just spend some family time on the beach.
We hired a cab to take us to a private beach, where we spent a nominal fee for a couple chairs and umbrella. London enjoyed splashing and throwing stones into the water. The beach had very course sand, and at waters edge was primarily pebble to fist sized stones. I’m guessing it was the repetitive wave action that separated the disparate sized sand and gravel into different regions across the beach.
